Restaurant Review!
Tai Cheung l Sheung Wan l Hong Kong
What’s this? A challenger to my beloved Honolulu Café for the title of best egg tarts ever? Tai Cheung is famous for being regularly visited by the last ever Hong Kong Governor Chris Patten.
So what did Chris Patten do? He changed the electoral rules so that virtually every Hong Kong citizen could vote for the legislative council. Even though the council was dissolved after the handover, it sparked the desire for true representation. When elections returned in 1998, the rules he enacted returned.
Some people really like him. I don’t like his taste in egg tarts. They have a dense buttery crust that is almost like shortbread. This gives them a very distinct flavor but I find its way too strong for the custard and I never taste the filling. Not an evil egg tart, but far from the best.

Yeah - I know that place! The have a picture of Patten in all his round eye, big nosed, gap toothed, sweaty safari suit glory chowing down on a greasy egg tart.
Is there anywhere else in the world except Hong Kong that worships all things colonial the way they do. Oh... hold on.. there's Singapore. And the entire Indian Subcontinent. Never mind.
The only things colonial in Singapore is Raffles Hotel and caning. And Colonial is not one of the 5 coveted 'C's in Spore: Cash, Creditcard, Career, Condo and Countryclub.
They also dont have any good egg tarts.
Oh man. It's disgusting. The need to stop sucking up to white people here. The clerks at work honestly think of me as having class because I speak perfect english. You've read my blog. What class?!?!
More like you should be giving a class in gayness.
Testify!!
